Kaugere Kids Get Truck donated by Ela Motors

One good story from last year that I missed was this. Ela Motors donated a truck to the Childrens University of Music and Arts (CUMA) based at the Kaugere settlement. CUMA was estaiblished by Peter and Lydia Kailap to give the kids of this tough environment educational, social and artistic skills etc. This truck will no doubt be put to good use for the kids. Ray Connolly, Ela Motors Regional Dealership Manager said that helping kids to better futures was very important to the company.

Public Motor Vehicles (PMV) play an important role in meeting the nations transport needs. They transport people to their villages, to the markets, to their homes and to and from work every day.
However, the high number of accidents and fatalities involving PMV’s is a major cause for concern for authorities.
According to MVIL PMV’s are involved in more accidents and road fatalities than any other motor vehicle type in PNG.
Many of the PMV accidents occur because of speeding, overloaded vehicles, drunk drivers and reckless driving.
Now PMVs, PMV crews and PMV passengers are being specially targeted by MVIL in its ‘Road Safety, Its Not A Game Campaign.”
