PNG Cars is going to Manus

In order to make the www.pngcars.com website more interesting, we thought we would start writing road guides for all the provinces in PNG once a month.

This project starts this August in Manus Province.

Yes, we will be taking the long trip to Manus and feature Manus Roads, Manus Cars, Manu’s Laws, Manus Road Culture, Manus Hotels, Manus People and places to getaway in Manus.

But in order to do so, we need your help.

If you know the contacts to hotels, guest houses and traffic police, Department of Works and more in Manus, please let us know.
Your assistance will make this journey amazing.

Regards

Polyes Law to Stop Terrorists Hijacking Our Roads With False Claims

Fraudsters high jacking the nation by demanding outrageous compensation for national roads may soon be a thing of the past if Transport Ministers Don Polyes 20 Meter Road Infrastructure Bill is passed in Parliament.

If you have ever travelled up on the Highlands Highway, you will see these houses and gardens that I can only describe as fake tiny shacks all along the side of the roads. You couldn’t even fit a dog into some of them. Many of them are less than 30 centimeters of the highlands highway.

The Highlands Highway will become a Four Lane Freeway

The Works and Transport Minister Don Polye has announced that the badly rundown Highlands Highway will be expanded to a four lane freeway stretching from Lae all the way to Southern Highlands and Enga Province, opening up the provinces and increasing the flow of goods along this all important road.

When exactly that will happen is anyone’s guess but he assured everyone at the Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council forum in Goroka recently that the government has given this project first priority.

Newsflash

The Japanese car industry is very unique. Unlike many countries around the world, a Japanese vehicle is driven for about 10 years only. Most Japanese prefer to buy the latest model to keep up with new fashion, so they quite often change their vehicles every 5 or 7 or 9 years. A used vehicle in Japan does not have much appeal as most Japanese prefer to buy brand new vehicles. Therefore a used car dealer can only sell his stock at cheap prices in order to attract buyers, and some stock despite being only 7 or 9 years old just won't sell in Japan. Therefore a lot of these vehicles make their way to the auctions for sale to exporters who can sell them to overseas clients.
