Toyota Tsusho (PNG) is the trading arm of Toyota Motor Company and is represented in Papua New Guinea by Ela Motors.

Ela Motors itself is a Papua New Guinean Company with its shareholders being Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings Pty. Ltd., MTSL, Nambawan Super Limited, National Superannuation Fund, Defense Force Retirement Benefits Fund, QBE Insurance (PNG), and over seventy (70) other minor shareholders.

On 20 Friday January 2012, in Tari, Southern Highlands, the Hela Women’s Upstream Limited (UHWL), an economic and social organisation compromising of around 200 members launched their very own Western Star semi-trailer.

This truck is part of a consortium of ten trucks managed by Trans Wonderland Limited (TWL), a trucking firm established by resource owners to service Oil Search, the PNG LNG project, and other such transport needs.

Poroma Hill Holds up the PNG LNG Project

Dozens of trucks destined for the PNG LNG project area are still stranded at the Poroma hill Section of the Highlands Highway.

This section is the wort part of the Highway in Southern Highlands and has been so for quite along time.

Giant Landslide Buries Villages and Cuts Road to PNG LNG Site in Southern Highlands.

A huge landslide along the Hides 4 Road in Southern Highlands has buried villages and houses.

Estimates of between 40 - 60 people are believed to be buried under the landslip.

K100,000 Claim for Crushed Bamboo and Other Fantastic Compensation Claims

According to sources, their have been a litany of outrageous compensation claims on the Southern Highlands portion of the Highlands Highway.

These include a K100,000 demand for some bamboo crushed on the road side and compensation of K1200 over a death of a cat, both ran over by heavy trucks in the Southern Highlands.
