Isuzu & Hino No1 in the Heavy Truck Market

Isuzu & Hino are the brands of choice in the heavy duty Truck market in PNG, while Hyundai and Isuzu dominate the light truck market.

In the Light Trucks market, the Boroko Motors Isuzu Range and PNG Motors Hyundai brands lead the market this year.
Isuzu, the clear leader in this segment, has sold more than 300 units followed by Hyundai with 185 units sold during January to September this year. Daihatsu has also performed well, selling 109 units during the same period.
Hino sold 69 units whilst Mitsubishi sold 45 units during the same period in 2010.
In the heavy duty category, competition is fiercer among the brands, Isuzu leading in the period with 151 sales, pipping Hino with 146 units sold. The Nissan UD (40 units) and Kenworth (41) also performed well.
The market has shown a preference for the Isuzu/Hino trucks because of the current demand for capacity as well the availability of trucks options eg dump, body etc.
The PNG LNG construction phase has also had an effect of sale of the Kenworth trucks, increasing sales by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, as the developers look for  higher rated capacity trucks for cartage associated with the projects construction.
