The access road to the NapaNapa Oil Refinery and the LNG gas processing plant is frequently being blocked by villagers upset by how they are being treated by developers of the LNG projects and authorities.
In recent times, Buruni villagers blocked of the access road after a disagreement between village youths and passengers on a bus hired by a contractor from the project site, led to an ugly incident involving armed police and stowing throwing villagers.
The road was temporarily closed by the villagers, who ended the blockade after successful grievance meeting with the police.
As work continues on the LNG facility, expect this access road to be hitting the headlines for more incidents between locals, developers and authorities.
