Western Prov Govt Teams with Gas Explorer to Build Fly- Strickland Road Link

The Western Province Government has teamed up with exploration firm Eagle Wood Energy to build and upgrade a 140km road link between the Fly and the Strickland River System. The provincial government has provided K1.9 million funding as well as road building equipment to Eaglewood Energy which will manage the project

The road link will be constructed over a 9-month period beginning Nov 2011.

Eaglewood Energy is developing the significant gas condensate discovery known as Ubuntu 1 under its Petroleum Prospective Licence (PPL) 259 in the province.

Developing the road link will reduce the costs of exploration for Eaglewood Energy as it currently relies on helicopters to transport its equipment including heavy drill rigs into the exploration site.
