Large Cash Transfers Unsafe; MVIL Loses K96, 000 in daring robbery

NCD Metropolitan Commander Supt Joseph Tondop said the companies making transfers of large sums of cash by road should report first to his office so that he can he could dispatch police units to provide additional security.
He said this after criminals held up Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited staff and the armoured vehicle of a security company and robbed the insurer of K96,000 in cash last month.
They were intercepted by the gang just as the where about to leave on a bank run.
The Commander said the robbery was suspicious as the gang knew the exact timing, locale and method of the bank transfer. He warned companies about passing on confidential information especially concerning large money transfers by vehicles, armoured or not.
