Gender Wars and Cars

Battle of sexes

In modern car purchasing and brand marketing, a gender war has already taken place.

Research time and again continues to show that there is a battle among the sexes when it comes to the issue of automobiles.

Taste, style, fashion, cost, accessories, fuel expenses and now a whole lot more with the inclusion of latest state of the art technology extends the layout of such battle fields.

PNG Cars has gone a step further in looking into case studies carried out by numerous market research firms focused on the auto industry and also created other case studies within Papua New Guinea via interviews to uncover some aspects of this Gender War. One of such aspects is taste. To buy the Chevy Silverado heavy-duty pickup, some might argue that in addition to the $22,225 sticker price, you also need a Y chromosome. That's because 93% of the truck's buyers are men. In fact, males own about nine out of 10 heavy-duty pickup trucks on the road, according to findings by AutoPacific, a market research firm focused on the auto industry.

Womens' tastes run a little more refined.

AutoPacific found that female buyers most often choose models by Saturn, Honda and Volkswagen.

Crazy Cars

In reinforcing the concept car designs, engineers and motor fanatics from all walks of life have been putting concepts into sensational creations.

In this series of images we would like to thrill you with some of these magnificent concepts cum reality cars that might give you some edge to what you could do to make your car a wicked splendour.

Concept Car Designs

Car designing has grown extensively over the years. Have you actually given a thought about the type of car that would come off the assembly line, how this crazy concept would one day be one of the very exquisite models we read, hear and see today?

Some from a more advanced formula like the hybrid and solar power generation.

Engineers throughout the era when cars took over have played a tremendous role in making these idealistic cars a reality.

But before all that eventuates, like any other plan executed, there must be a concept. Such concepts arose from unsung heroes whom we should also thank.

They are the concept car artists who have the creative mind's eye to think of such distinctive and rousing vehicles.

Industry Website Reviews

The growing use of the internet by Papua New Guineans and expatriates in the country to search used cars, new cars, traffic and road information has caused many companies and organisations in the industry to change their websites to connect better with these users.
Previously, if you visited the websites of many of these organisation, they were mere brand oriented websites, done with almost no thought on how they would be able use the technology more effectively to serve their business goals.
In the last 3 years, we have seen a change in the website designs for various organisations including MVIL, PNG Motors, Ela Motors and Boroko Motors, while others have yet to change. Interestingly, only one organisations is already using Facebook.

Newsflash

The National Capital District Traffic Police Senior Inspector Michael Kanguma has made calls for the ban of used cars imports to PNG, citing these cars as the reason for accidents in Port Moresby and contributing to traffic congestion.
He said many of these cars are in bad conditions when arriving in PNG.
Maybe while the inspector is condemning the import of used  cars, he could also look into the issue of police officers taking bribes and awarding licenses.
The direct import of used cars in PNG by individuals has become a thriving industry, making millions for Papua New Guinea customs every year.
However, the Internal Revenue Commission has also made statements in the past that it wants to curb the import of used cars in PNG.
However in both cases, they seem to want to stop individuals importing used cars, but not companies. Seems a bit unfair.
